
Salmon Kings sign former ECHLer Ty Morris

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team has agreed to terms with left winger Ty Morris.
Morris, 23, was a fourth round (#128 overall) selection by the Canucks in 2003, and has logged 53 games in the ECHL between the South Carolina Stingrays and the Columbia Inferno.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Millet, Alberta led Peiting EC of the German Oberliga (GerObL) in scoring last season for with 61 points (24 goals, 37 assists) in 47 games. In his pro debut with the Stingrays, Morris recorded 32 points (10 goals, 22 assists) in 52 games.
"Ty proved in his first pro season that he is a skilled competitor," said Dan Belisle, Vice-President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. "We welcome him in his return to and look forward to helping him build on his scoring abilities."
Morris's junior career began in 2001-02 with the St. Albert Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). In two seasons with the club, he posted 129 points (51 goals, 78 assists) and 363 penalty minutes in 118 games.
That was followed by two seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) between the Swift Current Broncos, Vancouver Giants, and Red Deer Rebels. He was named the WHL Player of the Month in January 2005 after scoring 23 points and helping the Rebels earn a 9-5 record. Overall in 131 WHL games, Morris collected 115 points and 147 penalty minutes, and a plus/minus of plus 31.
The Salmon Kings will kick off their fourth season in the ECHL in Idaho on Oct 19, 2007, and will host the Las Vegas Wranglers for the Home Opener Series on Oct 26 and 27.
