Salmon Kings Re-Sign Chad Painchaud

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have re-signed forward Chad Painchaud (PAYNE-show) for the 2010-11 season.

The native of Mississauga, ON dressed for 65 games with the Salmon Kings last season and led all players in points with a career-best 68 (30g-38a) while accumulating 65 minutes in penalties. He also led the club in goals during the 2010 Kelly Cup Playoffs when he tallied five markers in five games played. Painchaud was named the Salmon Kings' most valuable player for the 2009-10 season. The forward also competed in two games for the Manitoba Moose on loan where he recorded no points or penalty minutes.

"Chad led our team in scoring and was a very large part of our success last season," General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison said. "He brings great offensive production as well as speed. We are very excited to have him back."

The 6-1, 184 lb. Painchaud spent his three professional seasons prior to joining Victoria split between the ECHL and AHL. His best year came in 2008-09 when produced 64 points (20g-44a) in 57 games with the Bakersfield Condors. The previous two seasons in the ECHL were spent with the Gwinnett Gladiators where he totaled 30 goals and 37 assists for 67 points in 82 games while serving 88 penalty minutes.

The 24-year-old has also participated in 40 career AHL games split between the Moose, Iowa Chops and Chicago Wolves where he has scored nine points (4g-5a) with 13 minutes in penalties.

Painchaud spent his entire three-year junior career in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Mississauga IceDogs and Sarnia Sting. In 174 career junior games he amassed 148 points (69g-79a) while garnering 123 penalty minutes.
