John Maine â Delmarva Shorebirds
Pitcher John Maine was absolutely dominant this week for his club in South Atlantic League action. The Fredericksburg, MD native was 2-0 in his 2 starts allowing a mere 3 hits in his 13.0 innings pitched giving up no runs for a perfect 0.00 ERA. Maine mowed down 20 opposing batters and walked only 2 hitters. In his May 8th start against the Charleston Alley Cats, Maine went 7.2 innings giving up only one hit, retiring 23 of the 25 batters that he faced throughout the game and striking out 11 to out duel Vince Perkins who allowed only one hit over the course of six innings in Delmarva' s 1-0 home victory.

Andres Rodriguez â Capital City Bombers
First baseman Andres Rodriguez would likely have provided John Maine with a challenge this week with his hot bat. The San Cristobal, DR native had a .480 batting average for the week going 12 for 25 in his 7 games played this week. Rodriguez racked up a .760 slugging percentage including 4 doubles, 1 homerun, 5 RBI, 7 runs scored and a .517 on base percentage. In the May 3rd game against the Savannah Sand Gnats, Andres went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored in his team's 8-7 road loss. Rodriguez also went 3 for 4 in the May 8th game against South Georgia with a homer and 2 runs scored in his team's 4-2 loss.
