St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN - On Opening Day 1993 during the St. Paul Saints inaugural season Annie Huidekoper greeted fans with open arms and a huge smile on her face. Huidekoper is featured on the October 8 cover of Lavender Magazine (issue 401) celebrating "National Coming Out Day."

Huidekoper, Vice President of Community Partnerships and Customer Service, has been instrumental in the success of the Saints since she approached President Mike Veeck about a job in 1992. She was encouraged to contact Veeck after reading an article in a local newspaper predicting the quick demise of the Saints by the 4th of July.

Lavender Magazine, published bi-weekly with a distribution of over 25,000 copies, is Minnesota's leading GLBT publication. The article is featured not only on the cover of the print edition, but the front page of the magazine's website. Author Abigail Stoddard describes Huidekoper as "the high-profile, high-powered female executive of a baseball team-and a gay one to boot."

Many recognizable names appear in the article talking about the joy and passion Huidekoper brings to the job each day including Veeck, owner Bill Murray and Minnesota State Senator Ellen Anderson.

"We are thrilled that readers can learn about Annie what we already know," said Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Derek Sharrer. "She is instrumental in every role of our organization and perhaps her best work comes from the relationships she develops with our employees, fans and in the community."

Huidekoper's many responsibilities with the team include corporate sales, overseeing the team's award-winning customer service initiatives, developing promotional ideas and helping to lead the team's efforts for a regional ballpark in Lowertown.

The article is available on newsstands now and at www.lavendermagazine.com. It is also featured at saintsbaseball.com.
