
Saints to Host 2010 Minnesota AAU Football Championships Opening Ceremony

ST. PAUL, MN (October 15, 2010) - Are you ready for some football? The St. Paul Saints are hosting the 2010 Minnesota AAU Football Championships Opening Ceremony. Other organizations participating in the event include Schwan's, the Minnesota Vikings, TeamKLIPZ.com and the U.S. Army.
On Tuesday, October 19 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. fans can enjoy the Opening Ceremonies at Midway Stadium. From 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. kids may participate in five football-style drills, the vertical jump, long jump, power ball toss, the "Illinois Drill" (where players run through cones) and one football specific drill. The kids will also have an opportunity to get autographs from Minnesota Vikings running back Toby Gerhart, offensive lineman Chris DeGeare and defensive back (and former University of Minnesota Golden Gopher) Marcus Sherrels.
Prior to the Opening Ceremonies, Midway Stadium will host 100 United Way children from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. as AAU coaches and the Vikings players guide them through drills and sign autographs.
The event is free to the public and kicks off a four-day AAU Football Tournament in four different age categories (8U, 10U, 12U and 14U) from October 21-24. The tournament will be held at select sites with the semifinals and championships to be held at Minnetonka and Edina High Schools.
