San Angelo Saints News Release

SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo Saints today announced the signing of forward Andy Doktorchik, bringing the total number of players coming to training camp this week to 26.

This will be Doktorchik's second stint in the CHL after spending the last three seasons in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). His best pro season was 2000-01 when he scored 39 points in 56 games for the Baton Rouge Kingfish of the ECHL. He also played briefly for the Cincinnati Cyclones under new Saints head coach Ray Edwards, and spent last season with the Johnstown Chiefs.

"Andy is a big signing for us because he is a great face-off guy and plays well on the penalty-kill," said Edwards. "He's proven in the past that he can also score and we are counting on him to be another all-around player for the Saints."

Doktorchik is the 16th forward signed by the Saints. There are also seven defensemen and three goaltenders coming to training camp to compete for spots on the team's 18-man opening day roster.

Players report to training camp on Saturday with physicals and fitness testing on Sunday and the first official practice on the ice Monday at 10 a.m. The Saints host Odessa for a preseason exhibition game next Friday, Oct. 10th at 7:05 p.m. at the San Angelo Coliseum. The preseason game is free to season ticket holders with all other tickets costing $7. However, any fan who brings in three non-perishable food items can get a preseason game ticket for just $5. Tickets for the preseason game and all Saints home games are available now at the Saints office, the Convention Center and Blair's Western Wear.

The Saints open the season Oct. 17th in Odessa with the team's home opener set for Oct. 18th against Rio Grande Valley at 7:05 p.m. Magic 98 radio will be broadcasting live at the coliseum from 5-7 p.m. for anyone who wants to come early for an unofficial tailgate party. Every fan through the doors will receive a free Magnet Schedule courtesy of 1st Community Federal Credit Union and the first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a free Saints T-shirt courtesy of Gandy Ink. Season tickets and multi-game ticket packs are still available at the Saints office and the Convention Center.
