
Saints Outfielder Krause Has Contract Purchased by Brewers Organization

ST. PAUL, MN (August 27, 2008) - One day after being named to the 2008 American Association Post-Season All-Star Team, St. Paul Saints outfielder Brent Krause had his contract purchased by the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
The 26-year-old Krause will head to Double-A Huntsville. This is the second consecutive season Krause had his Saints contract purchased by a Major League organization. Last year the Baltimore Orioles purchased his contract and sent him to Single-A Frederick.
Krause hit .317 with 19 homers and 56 RBI in 93 games. In 353 at bats he scored 71 runs, whacked 25 doubles and one triple with an on base percentage of .398 and a slugging percentage of .555. He also swiped a team high 15 bases in 18 attempts. He finished tied for first in the league in extra base hits (45), tied for third in homers, fourth in slugging, tied for fourth in doubles and tied for eighth in batting average.
Krause was selected as a starting outfielder for the North Division Team in the 2008 American Association All-Star Game in St. Paul on July 22
The resident of Andover, MN played 55 games for the Saints in 2007 and hit .379 with four homers and 41 RBI. He spent 39 games with Frederick where he hit .275 with five homers and 20 RBI.
Saints outfielder Pichi Batlet announced his retirement. The 30-year-old Balet hit .306 with one homer and 23 RBI in 54 games. In 209 at bats he scored 22 runs, had 10 doubles and one triple while slugging .378 and an on base percentage of .366.
Balet was named the 2006 American Association Player of the Year while playing for the Lincoln Saltdogs.
