Allen, Regas Tabbed B45 Players Of The Month

DURHAM, NC - PA SportsTicker, the American Association's official statistician, has selected Fort Worth Cats DH John Allen and Sioux Falls Canaries LHP Kris Regas as the August B45 Batter and Player of the Month.
In 21 games, Allen batted .367 with eight home runs, including a league record four in one game, 22 RBI and a slugging percentage of .656. He collected 33 hits, scored 14 runs and had a .406 on-base percentage. Allen finished the season hitting .327 with 20 home runs, 65 RBI and 61 runs scored. The native of Wichita Falls, TX finished tied for first in the American Association in extra base hits (45), second in homers, third in hits (123) and slugging percentage (.559) and fourth in batting average. Allen was just recently named to the 2008 American Association Postseason All-Star Team.
The 26-year-old is in his fourth season with Fort Worth. Allen spent part of the 2007 season with the Brockton Rox of the Can-Am League.
Regas had a record of 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA and nine saves in August. In 12 1/3 innings pitched, the southpaw closer allowed one earned run on eight hits with two walks and 31 strikeouts. The 28-year-old for the season had a 1-0 record with a 1.29 ERA and a league record 30 saves. Regas was also named to the 2008 American Association Postseason All-Star Team.
The Bourbonnais, IL resident has played his now entire seven-year career in the independent leagues. He pitched four seasons in the Frontier League with Cook County, Windy City and Richmond, one season with Gary of the Northern League and the last two years with Sioux Falls.
