
Saints Begin Training Camp

San Angelo Saints News Release
San Angelo, TXâThe pucks drop today as the San Angelo Saints 2004 Training Camp officially opens at the San Angelo Coliseum. Several familiar faces and many new recruits will compete for a place on the 18-man roster for the 2004-05 season. The Saints will hit the ice each morning from 9:00 a.m. â 11:30 a.m., and will then continue training with an off-ice circuit.
The Saints must prepare quickly, as they face their rivals the Odessa Jackalopes Friday, October 15th at 7:05 p.m. at the San Angelo Coliseum in a pre-season match. The Saints then host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Saturday, October 16th at 4:00 p.m. in a Rules Day Scrimmage. Fans can hear the action as the teams' practice power plays, penalty kills and more with Head Coach Ray Edwards wired to a microphone. Officials will be on hand to discuss the actual rules of the game and players will demonstrate penalties after the scrimmage.
In related news, CHL Goaltender of the Year Scott Reid and newcomer David Silverstone have returned from the American Hockey League's Milwaukee Admirals training camp. Admirals Head Coach Claude Noel hosted the camp featuring 36 players, 13 of which helped the Ads capture the AHL crown last season. Reid and Silverstone skated among the ranks of Dan Hamhuis and Jordon Tootoo of the 2003-04 Nashville Predators while at Milwaukee.
The puck drops on the 2004-05 season Friday, October 22nd as the Saints face the Laredo Bucks at 7:05 p.m. Opening weekend continues on Saturday, October 23rd as the Saints take on the Odessa Jackalopes.
