St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN (April 7, 2009) - The St. Paul Saints finished near the bottom of the league in home runs last season, but they are doing everything they can to make sure they don't finish there this season as they signed power hitting outfielder Daron Roberts.
The 26-year-old Roberts has 25 homers over the last two seasons and in 2008 split time at Single-A Jupiter (88 games) and Double-A Carolina (13 games) in the Florida Marlins organization. He hit .255 with 13 homers and 58 RBI in 101 games between the two stops last season. In 380 at bats he had 21 doubles, four triples and also stole 16 bases in 21 attempts. He had a .434 slugging percentage and an on base percentage of .291.
Roberts was a 12th round selection by the Chicago White Sox organization in the 2004 June Amateur Draft.
The Saints roster now stands at 17 players, nine position players and eight pitchers. The Saints can carry a maximum of 22 players.
