Saint Francis' Stroder Signs With Freedom
January 19, 2004 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Fort Wayne Freedom News Release
Luther Stroder is set to become the next former Cougar to suit up for the Freedom. The versatile Stroder completed his career at the University of Saint Francis by helping his team reach the semi finals of the NAIA playoffs. Stroder is a two-time honorable mention NAIA All-American.
"Coach Donnelly and his staff do a great job at Saint Francis," said Head Coach Rich Huff. "We keep a close eye on the program and have already benefited from having USF players." Quarteback Antoine Taylor, leading receiver Jeremey Dutcher, and defensive lineman Alf Fertil all started for the Freedom in 2003.
Huff added, "Luther can do a lot of things, which is a plus in our league. Creating depth on a 21-man roster can be difficult." Stroder was an important part of the Saint Francis offense throughout his career and holds school records for single-game rushing attempts as well as all of the Cougar rushing touchdown marks. Luther fell just one yard short of adding his name to another line of the record book with a 202-yard rushing effort against Tiffin. He led the team in scoring this past season with 12 touchdowns and also posed a threat in the passing game, finishing as the team's third leading receiver in 2003.
The Freedom kicks off the 2004 season Sunday, March 14th at home against the ShowMe Believers. Season tickets are on sale now through the end of January and start at just $50 for a seven game home schedule. Tickets may be purchased at the Freedom office or by phone at 260-422-2293
