Buffalo Silverbacks News Release

The Buffalo Silverbacks recently visited the YMCA Buffalo Niagara as part of the Sahlen "Do Your Best, Never Quit" Community Outreach Initiative. In a letter to the Silverbacks, Susan Lumandue and Krystle Feind, Directors at the YMCA, wrote:

"I would like to personally thank you for taking the time and coming out to the Delaware YMCA to teach your seminar on, "Do Your Best, Never Quit!" I thought the seminar was extremely well put together and the children especially liked the stations that were set up. During the seminar I actually saw the basketball players using the "Do Your Best, Never Quit" mentality. A young female child wanted to sit on the sidelines and watch the other children shoot baskets because she couldn't do it. The basketball player walked over to her and explained to her that she would never learn how to shoot baskets if she didn't keep trying. She resisted at first, but relented when he offered to help her. As the program director at the YMCA, I was excited to see that the idea of not quitting was getting through to the children. The Buffalo Silverbacks serve as great role models for the young children at the YMCA."

The Sahlen "Do Your Best, Never Quit" community outreach initiative teaches children to focus on the effort they apply to a situation and not the result. For more information on "Do Your Best, Never Quit" please visit www.buffalosilverbacks.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
