
Sacramento's Lopez Named USL Player of the Week

TAMPA, Fla. - Sacramento Republic FC midfielder Rodrigo Lopez has been voted the USL Player of the Week for the fifth week of the 2015 season after he scored three goals in two games to lead his side to the top of the Western Conference with a pair of victories.
Lopez earned 59 percent of the vote, which was conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL market. Richmond Kickers forward George Davis IV finished second with 29 percent.
USL Team of the Week
GK - Ryan Taylor, Richmond Kickers: Earned his first professional shutout with a 10-save performance against the Charlotte Independence
D - Quinton Griffith, Charleston Battery: Excellent in his return from injury, Griffith set up a number of opportunities for his teammates, and was solid defensively
D - Grant Van De Casteele, Rochester Rhinos: Anchored a pair of solid defensive displays as the Rhinos took four points in two games and moved to the top of the Eastern Conference
D - Emrah Klimenta, Sacramento Republic FC: Put in two strong performances as Republic FC recorded back-to-back shutouts against Vancouver and Portland
M - Raul Mendiola, LA Galaxy II: Added a late game-winner to an earlier assist as Los Dos took their first win of the season against the Austin Aztex
M - Luke Vercollone, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC: Converted twice from the penalty spot, and was strong centrally, as the Switchbacks defeated Real Monarchs SLC
M - Rodrigo Lopez, Sacramento Republic FC: His highlight-reel goal against Vancouver was the peak of a week that included three goals and one assist in two victories
M - George Davis IV, Richmond Kickers: His hat trick, which included two clinical penalty kicks, led the Kickers to their second consecutive 3-0 victory.
F - Gibson Bardsley, Tulsa Roughnecks FC: Opened the scoring early and was a menace throughout as the Roughnecks earned a thrilling 4-3 win against Seattle
F - Danni König, OKC Energy FC: His second game-winning goal of the season lifted Energy FC to a dramatic victory against Seattle at the reopening of Taft Stadium
F - Christofer Ramirez, Orange County Blues FC: A pair of goals led the Blues to a second consecutive victory as they ended Arizona's perfect start to the season
