
Sabres Agree to Terms with Rob Niedermayer

BUFFALO, NY (July 7, 2010) - Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent center Rob Niedermayer on a one-year contract.
Niedermayer (12/8/1974, 6'2", 200 lbs.) is a veteran of 16 NHL seasons, and won a Stanley Cup with Anaheim in 2007. Niedermayer was also a member of the Florida Panthers team that advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1996. The 35-year-old Niedermayer has 39 points in 109 career playoff games, including 10 (5+5) in 21 games during Anaheim's 2007 Cup run.
A native of Cassiar, B.C., Niedermayer has 450 points (181+269) and 882 PIMs in 1,082 career games with Florida, Calgary, Anaheim and New Jersey. Niedermayer spent last season in New Jersey where he scored 22 points (10+12) in 71 games. He was also second on the team with a faceoff percentage of 50.6, winning 478 of 945 draws.
Niedermayer was originally drafted fifth overall by Florida in the 1993 Entry Draft, after playing three years of junior hockey with Medicine Hat (WHL).
