SaberCats Sign Three to 2012 Roster

SAN JOSE, CA - The SaberCats today announced the additions of OL Isaac Leatiota, WR Juan Nunez and DL Kenneth Charles.

"We're rounding out our roster now with some talent from the NFL as well as from here in the Bay Area," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "These additions will add depth with some quality players from the professional ranks that will make us that much more competitive in 2012."

Leatiota (6-3, 315, San Jose State) started in 42 games for the Spartans, including 12 starts as a senior in 2010. A highly-touted player coming out of Wilcox (CA) High School in Santa Clara, CA, he earned second-team all-state honors in 2005. As a senior, he accounted for more than 75 pancake blocks on offense while posting 60 tackles and five quarterback sacks as a defensive lineman. A native of San Jose, CA one of his cousins includes Oakland Raiders starting center Samson Satele.

Nunez (6-1, 190, Western Michigan) most recently played for the Cleveland Browns during training camp in 2011. Prior to the Browns, he posted 190 receptions for 2,337 yards and 24 touchdowns in four years for Western Michigan. A three-time All-MAC selection, his best season came as a senior when he became the ninth wide receiver in school history to post over 1,000 yards receiving after catching 91 passes for 1,032 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning first-team All-MAC honors in the process. A native of Miami, FL he attended Miami Carol City High School where he finished his senior season with 372 yards receiving for five touchdowns on 10 receptions as a member of the 2005 state championship team.

Charles (6-2, 260, Stephen F. Austin) was signed by the St. Louis Rams following his senior season where he spent time during 2011 training camp. A two-time All-Southland Conference selection, he tallied 179 tackles, 36.5 for loss including 23.5 sacks and 11 forced fumbles. After making the switch to defensive end from interior lineman as a senior, he posted career numbers with 11.5 sacks, 65 tackles and 19.0 for loss. For his efforts he earned first-team All-SLC honors and was one of only two players on the Lumberjack defense to be named an All-American. A native of Missouri City, TX he attended Hightower (TX) High School where he was a three-year letterwinner. As a senior, he earned all-district honors after posting 65 tackles, 15.0 sacks and four forced fumbles.

The SaberCats roster now stands at 25 players with seven returning from 2011.
