SAN JOSE, Calif. (June 1, 2007) - Mark Grieb tossed six touchdown passes leading the San Jose SaberCats to a 59-52 win over the Orlando Predators clinching the Arena Football League's Western Division title and a first round playoff bye.

The SaberCats (10-3) won their seventh straight game and defeated the Predators (7-6) for the fourth consecutive time.

Grieb's 24-yard scoring pass to James Roe with 2:45 left in the fourth quarter broke the eighth tie of the game and the SaberCats forced four Shane Stafford incompletions on the Predators ensuing possession to preserve the win

Grieb completed 22-of-30 attempts for 278 yards for the game, but was 5-of-5 for 83 yards with a pair of touchdowns in the final quarter.

Roe, who eclipsed the 8,000 mark in career receiving yards, led the SaberCats with eight catches for 130 yards and three scores, all in the second half.

Stafford threw for season-high 327 yards and six touchdowns on 21-of-37 passing, but was just 4-of-12 in the decisive fourth quarter. Ron Johnson had a game-high nine catches for 121 yards while Javarus Dudley totaled four scores and 146 yards on seven receptions.

Orlando's Greg White sacked Grieb late in the third quarter for his AFL single-season record 14th of the year, bettering Silas Demary's 2005 record of 13.5. San Jose's Omarr Smith added a big defensive play also, returning a Kevin Nagle fumble 48 yards for a touchdown midway throught the second quarter staking the SaberCats to a 21-14 lead.
