SaberCats Assigned DL Julius Williams

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose SaberCats announced today that they have been assigned rookie defensive lineman Julius Williams.
"We really like Julius' ability to disrupt opposing quarterbacks," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "You need to be fast in the Arena game, and we believe his skill set will translate well indoors."
Williams (6-2, 280, Connecticut) has experience playing in the National Football League when he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2009. In two seasons for the Jaguars, he was active for 14 games, started one time and recording 11.0 total tackles and a half sack.
Williams last played for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League in 2013. He spent the previous two seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL in 2011 and 2012, where he recorded 25.0 tackles along seven sacks.
Prior to playing in the CFL, Williams signed with the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League at the end of the 2010 season.
Williams played college football for the University of Connecticut Huskies. The two year starer recorded 76.0 tackles, 24.0 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks throughout his college career.
The SaberCats are back in action this Saturday, May 17th at the SAP Center as the Portland Thunder come to town at 7:00 pm.
