Sabercats announce dance audition date

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Sept. 27, 2005) - Here is your chance to become a part of the most popular dance squad in Bay Area sports and perform in front of huge crowds. Preliminary auditions for the 2006 SaberKittens, the official dance team for the Arena Football League's San Jose SaberCats, are scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 10.

The auditions will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and take place at the Fry's Electronics gymnasium, located at 382 Portage Ave. in Palo Alto.

All interested dancers are asked to pre-register, either on-line by clicking the SaberKittens link at www.sanjosesabercats.com or by calling (408) 573-5577 to request an application, prior to the tryout date. Dancers may register on the day of the audition but should arrive early to fill out paper work.

Entering their 12th year, the SaberKittens will perform at all SaberCats home games during the season at HP Pavilion in San Jose, as well as represent the SaberCats at promotional and community events throughout the season. The 2005 SaberKittens were named the best dance team in the AFL in a vote conducted on arenafootball.com.

Applicants must be a high school graduate and at least 18 years of age by the tryout date. All dancers are required to bring a recent 4x6 photograph and are asked to wear a two-piece leotard, flesh-colored tights and jazz/dance or non-marking tennis shoes to the audition.

Callbacks will take place Sunday, December 11. Be advised that the SaberKitten tryouts will be closed to the public. No friends or family members will be allowed to watch the preliminary or final auditions.
