Ryan Boyle Earns Rookie Of The Month Honors For The Second Time

April 5, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
San Jose Stealth News Release

SAN JOSE - San Jose Stealth forward Ryan Boyle was chosen as the National Lacrosse League's Rookie Of The Month for March. The NLL Player of the Month is determined by a vote of the general managers and head coaches of the league's 10 member clubs.

Boyle captured the award after posting 20 points (five goals, 15 assists) in six games played in March. Having also earned the award in January, Boyle becomes only the fourth rookie in league history to earn two Rookie of the Month Awards. Boyle joins the likes of John Grant Jr. (2000), Tracey Kelusky (2001) and Craig Conn (2004) as the only players to do so.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward is second on the Stealth in both scoring, with 56 points (18 goals, 38 assists) and loose balls (81). He currently ranks 19 in the league in scoring and first among all rookies. Boyle was the only rookie selected to the 2005 NLL All-Star Game.

"I've been progressing every game," Boyle said. "I'd be lying if I didn't say I made a mistake or two, so there's still room for improvement."

Stealth General Manager and Head Coach Johnny Mouradian is very pleased with Boyle's performance this season.

"If you look at the other three players that have accomplished what Ryan just did, and see what they are doing in this league now, it's really a great accomplishment," Mouradian said. "He is putting himself in a good position to have an outstanding NLL career."

The Princeton University graduate and third overall selection in the 2004 Entry Draft will be back in action this Friday, April 8 at HP Pavilion at San Jose at 8 p.m. The Stealth will be taking on John Grant and the Rochester Knighthawks on fan appreciating night at their home finale. Tickets are still available at all Ticketmaster locations, ticketmaster.com, by calling 408-999-5700 or at the HP Pavilion box office.
