Wichita Wild News Release

The Indoor Football League (IFL) announced on Wednesday that Wichita Wild defensive lineman Brandon Russell has been named league Defensive Player of the Week. This is the second time in Wild history that a Wild player has been named Player of the Week in the playoffs.

Russell made all the right plays in the 45-33 victory over Rochester in the second round of the IFL playoffs. The DL came up with three tackles and three sacks to terrorize the Raiders offense. The sacks resulted in 24 total yards lost by Rochester.

Other players recognized this week were Brian Jones of Arkansas as Offensive Player of the Week and Tim Brown of Billings as Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Wichita Wild (11-5) advanced to their second consecutive conference championship by defeating Rochester by a score of 45-33 at Hartman Arena last Friday. Sioux Falls missed the playoffs in 2009 and brings a record of 13-3 into the game. Wild fans can watch the game at Larry Bud's Sports Bar in Wichita. The game will also be available on KNSS radio 1330-AM.
