Chicago Rush News Release

The Chicago Rush announced today it has signed quarterback Charlie Peterson to a two-year contract and lineman Jim Sodano to a three-year deal. To make room for Peterson and Sodano on the team's training camp roster, the Rush announced the retirement of lineman Riley Kleinhesselink and placed Demetrious Maxie on the AFL's "Refused to Report" list.

Peterson (6-2, 200, BYU) comes to Chicago after spending last season with the Carolina Cobras. Peterson appeared in one game for the Cobras in 2004, completing one of five passes for 26 yards. Prior to joining Carolina, Peterson spent two seasons playing in the af2 for the Peoria Pirates (2003) and the Pensacola Barracudas (2002).

Sodano (6-3, 305, East Stroudsburg) joins the Rush after playing for the af2's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers in 2004. Sodano enjoyed a brilliant college career at East Stroudsburg, having been chosen as a member of the D2Football.com All-America first team, the Associated Press Little All-America second team and the Daktronics Division II All-America second team after his senior season.

Kleinhesselink spent his entire AFL career in Chicago, playing the 2001, 2003 and 2004 seasons with the Rush. In 33 career games he recorded 33 tackles, five sacks and three forced fumbles.

Maxie was obtained from the Indiana Firebirds in October's dispersal draft.

The Rush kicks off its fifth anniversary season with the 2005 home opener set for noon on Sunday, February 6, against Jon Bon Jovi's Philadelphia Soul. Rush season tickets, beginning at just $64, currently are on sale. To reserve your tickets, or for more information about 2005 Rush season tickets, fans can call the Rush at (877) Rush-Tix (787-4849) or visit the team's Web site at www.chicagorush.com.
