
Rush Hold off Sundogs, 3-2

Arizona Sundogs News Release
Prescott Valley, AZ - The Rapid City Rush held off the Sundogs in a 3-2 game Tuesday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Chad Nehring collected two goals while Derek LeBlanc was credited with two assists.
Both teams were tied at the end of the first period, 1-1. Chad Nehring for Arizona and Rusty Masters for Rapid City were the only two that could find the net for either team. Just over two minutes into the game, Jason Morgan was called for holding and sent Rapid City on the power play which the Sundogs successfully killed off. Rush's Jordan Baker and Jared Brown found themselves on a 2-1 break away but Baker's shot was deflected off the cross bar. Rapid City picked up two, consecutive penalties sending Arizona on a 5-3 power play which lead to Nehring's goal.
Arizona found themselves out shot in the second period 12-5 proving to be the deciding factor in tonight's game. The Rush edged out Arizona after netting their final two goals in the second frame. Rapid City's game winning goal came from Jarrett Konkle when his wrister found the back of the net and Jared Brown collected the only power play goal of the evening.
The Sundogs opened the final period with 1:27 left on the power play but couldn't find the net. Arizona bounced back, out shooting the Rush 11-7 and with seven minutes left Nehring chips the puck pass Tim Boron closing Rapid City's lead to one point. Arizona's, Kyle Hood took a late penalty when he was called for an illegal check to the head and put Rapid City on the power play, their fifth of the night with just 3:46 left in regulation.
David Brown took the loss for Arizona turning away 27 shots on net, while Boron stopped 24. The Sundogs were 0-5 on the power play and the Rush were 1-4 on the power play. Arizona continues their eight day road trip where they will meet Denver whom they just recently swept in a three-game series and then will continue on to Wichita on Saturday night.
