Arizona Sundogs News Release

Prescott, Valley, AZ - The Cutthroats' offense dominated the Sundogs in a 6-0 loss at the Denver Coliseum Wednesday night. Denver's Kieran Millan shut out Arizona with 22 saves.

The Cutthroats outshot the Sundogs in the opening frame 15-6, propelling Denver to their 3-0 lead in the first. The Cutthroats' Brad Smyth opened the scoring for Denver half way through the first proving to be the game winning goal. Moments later Arizona's goal by Jake Hauswirth was waived off after Mickael Bedard was called for high sticking. Denver's third goal was picked up by AJ Gale on the power play with only thirteen seconds left in the period when icing was unexpectedly waived off. The Sundogs' Adam Smyth was serving a double minor penalty for tripping and roughing putting Denver on the power play for four minutes.

Arizona saw much of the same in the second period when Denver's Gabe Gauthier and Luke Fulghum tallied two additional goals pulling the Cutthroats to a five point lead. Heading into the final period and Arizona still scoreless tempers began to flare for both teams. A combined 42 penalty minutes were served between the two teams in the third period alone. Sundog's Kyle Hood threw the first hit on the Cutthroats Gale leading to the breakout between Keith Wynn and JP Chabot. The Sundogs' Adam Russo took the loss and will look for retribution when the two clubs meet again on Friday at the Denver Coliseum.
