Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - At last Thursday and Friday's home games against the Missouri Mavericks, the Rapid City Rush hosted their fourth annual "Pink at the Rink" event. With numerous promotions taking place and players auctioning off specialty jerseys, the Rush helped raise $33,600 to be donated to the Rapid City Regional Hospital Foundation. Through four 'Pink at the Rink' fundraisers, the Rush organization has now raised nearly $200,000 for the fight against cancer.
"Once again, I am taken aback by the generosity of the Black Hills Community," said Rush General Manager Tim Hill. "For the fourth straight season, the community came together for a tremendous cause and exceeded expectations. Everyone had a hand in this year's success, from the fans and volunteers to players and staff. To be able to present a check of over $30,000 to the Rapid City Regional Hospital Foundation is but a small token of our gratitude and will go directly to fighting this terrible disease."
The Rush were able to raise money through a number of events and promotions. Over $10,000 was raised during the games with donations from the near sellout crowd in attendance. All of the proceeds from "Chuck a Puck" sales also went towards the cause.
With the goal of $10,000 reached during the games and in honor of the those fighting cancer, the Rush invite fans out to watch players Scott Wray, Andrew Smale, Garrett Gruenke, Micheal Couch, Jeff Kyrzakos and more along with the Rush front office shave their heads.
The event will take place at the Man Salon today at 2:30pm, located at the Rushmore Crossing (1745 Eglin St, Suite 220).
