Bloomington Blaze News Release

The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, continue Central Hockey League play with games on three straight nights this weekend, with Sunday's contest on home ice.

The Blaze travel to Fort Wayne to face the Komets for the third straight game on Friday at 7 p.m. Central at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The Komets broke a three-game losing streak to the Blaze with a 3-2 come-from-behind triumph on Tuesday in Bloomington. The loss also ended a five-game Blaze point streak. Friday's game is the ninth of 11 games between the squads, and the teams have split the previous eight games. The Komets are second in the Turner Conference, two points behind Evansville. Vladimir Nikiforov leads the Blaze with 37 points (15 goals, 22 assists), while Kyle Laughlin is the goal-scoring leader with 16 tallies. Nikiforov leads the Blaze against the Komets with four goals and four assists.

On Saturday, the Blaze visit the Dayton Gems at Hara Arena for a 6 p.m. Central face-off. The Blaze are 4-5-0 against the Gems, but have won the last two contests, most recently a 4-2 decision last Thursday at Dayton. The Gems are sixth in the Turner Conference, only two points ahead of the Blaze.

The Blaze return home on Sunday for a 4:05 p.m. puck drop against the Fort Wayne Komets, the fourth meeting in five games between the rivals. Sunday is Kitchen Cooked Family Day, with $5 admission for children 12 and under and $3 kids meals of a hot dog, popcorn and a drink. All fans are invited to skate with the players after the game.

All games can be heard on WJBC.com and CHL-TV. Fans are also invited to watch road games at Gill Street Sports Bar and Restaurant, 3002 Gill Street, Bloomington. Only six home games remain for the Blaze, and group packages are still available for all contests.
