Chicago Rush News Release
March 27, 2003 â The Chicago Rush announced that it has made several roster moves in advance of Saturday's game in Grand Rapids. Today the Rush activated kicker Keith Gispert from Injured Reserve and signed WR/DB Barry Dillard to a contract for the remainder of the 2003 season.
To make room on its roster, the Rush placed defensive specialist Cedric Walker on Injured Reserve with a deep thigh bruise and waived kicker Kenny Stucker.
Dillard is a five-year veteran of the Arena Football League, having played in Portland (1997-1999) and Oklahoma (2000-2001). He missed most of the 2001 season and the entire 2002 season due to injuries. In his career Dillard has played in 34 games, recording 102.5 tackles, seven interceptions and 33 passes broken up.
"It's a big hit not to have one of the leaders of your defense on the field for such a long period of time," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "Especially when it is a guy with the physical presence of Cedric Walker.
"I think the guys who have filled in the last two weeks are doing a good job and the addition of Dillard should help as well. He is a seasoned vet who has had some injury problems, but he is in good shape and will add some experience to our secondary."
Gispert was injured in Chicago's win at Buffalo on March 1 and has missed the team's last three games.
Walker was injured in the first quarter of Chicago's March 16 game at Las Vegas. He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
The Rush returns home to Allstate Arena Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m. to host the Dallas Desperados. Fans wishing to purchase individual game tickets to the Dallas game, or any Rush regular season home game, may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212 or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com.
