San Jose SaberCats WR/DB BARRY WAGNER's first reception this week against Carolina will make him the second player in AFL history to reach 100 consecutive games with a reception. Wagner has made at least one reception in 146 of his 147 career games played -- including a streak of 99-consecutive contests, from June 21, 1996 to present. Indiana's EDDIE BROWN holds the record with 109 from May 21, 1994 to present.
The lone game that Wagner â a six-time Ironman of the Year â did not record a reception was against Florida on May 11, 1996, when he sustained a broken leg early in the first quarter. Wagner returned to action after missing just four weeks and set the AFL's single-game all-purpose yard record with 434 yards against Iowa on June 21, 1996.
HEAD OF THE 300-YARD CLUB: If New York QB AARON GARCIA throws for at least 300 yards against Colorado this Sunday, he will set a new League record with 10 consecutive 300-yard games. Garcia has thrown for more than 300 yards in a single game a record-setting 35 times throughout his nine-year AFL career. Dating back to the end of the 2002 regular season, Garcia has thrown nine consecutive 300-yard games, a feat that ties his previous record â set in 2000.
