Runyan Announced as Riptide Operator

SAN DIEGO – Philadelphia Eagles' All-Pro Lineman, Jon Runyan, has assumed majority interest in the San Diego Riptide arena football team, fulfilling the promise he made to fans at the end of the 2004 season. Earlier in the season, Runyan expressed his enthusiasm for the team and the sport.

"I am very excited to be on board with the Riptide," Runyan said. "Arena Football is an exciting game with a bright future and I think the Riptide have a chance to play a major role in the growth of the sport."

The expansion of Runyan's involvment further illustrates the country's growing interest in arena football and legitimizes the overwhelming love for America's new favorite past time, football.

"Jon brings a unique perspective to the Riptide," said Dan Foutz, Director of Football Operations. "His dedication to this sport has been apparent throughout his successful NFL career. We now have the opportunity to utilize his experience and take the Riptide to the next level."

Along with Runyan's football franchise acquisition and nine years of NFL experience, he also owns a 23-acre farm in New Jersey, co-hosts a radio show called "Rockin' with Runyan" and gives weekly commentary on "The Runyan Report" for the Comcast Network.
