Austin Spurs News Release
Austin, TX November 10, 2009 - The Austin Toros will partner with RunTex this Friday evening to host a team-first 5K run in downtown Austin and celebrate the tip-off of our fifth anniversary season. Toros mascot Da Bull will start the evening fun run at 5:30p.m. at the RunTex store on Riverside. Members of the Toros 2009 training camp and the Capital City Dancers will be on hand to support runners as they finish the race that takes them through the trail at Lady Bird Lake.
"The Austin Toros and RunTex are synonymous for health and fitness initiatives in the Austin community," said Peter Lubell, Toros COO. "When Paul Carrozza and his team presented us with this idea, we knew they were the perfect partner for this event to help launch our 5th anniversary season."
Those interested in running can still register at runtex.com. Registration is $25 and includes a ticket to a Toros home game. Spectators should gather at RunTex for games and prizes.
Lubell added, "Whether you run or walk, we invite the entire city of Austin to come out this Friday and celebrate the start of our season."
The Toros home opener is Friday, November 27th against the RGV Vipers at the Austin Convention Center at 7:30p.m. Tickets are available now. For more information on how you can join the action, call the Toros office at (512) 236-8333 or visit austintoros.com.
