Rumble Ponies Hosting Bud Fowler Night Saturday

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are honored to be celebrating the legacy of 2022 National Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee Bud Fowler on "Bud Fowler Night" this Saturday evening July 23rd as the Rumble Ponies play the Hartford Yard Goats. The Rumble Ponies are proud to host this special night with Security Mutual Life Insurance as part of "The Nine", a Minor League Baseball initiative specifically designed to honor and celebrate the historic impact numerous Black baseball pioneers had on the sport.

The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a Bud Fowler Bobblehead, Rumble Ponies players and coaches will wear special Binghamton Bingos themed jerseys, and there will be a post-game showing of the Marvel film "Black Panther."

In addition to all festivities to honor Bud Fowler, "The Nine," will also be commemorated with trivia throughout the game to highlight the historical accomplishments and milestones of Black players in the sport of baseball. Fans will be encouraged to play along with trivia throughout the game for the chance to win a commemorative Negro Leagues Baseball Silver Dollar (2 winners), and a Bud Fowler National Baseball Hall of Fame pin (1 winner). Winners will be selected in the 7th inning.

John W. Jackson Jr., better known as "Bud Fowler", is believed to be the first Black player to play professional baseball, more than 60 years before Jackie Robinson broke Major League Baseball's color barrier. He played for the Binghamton Bingos in 1887 and played professionally starting in 1878.

The following businesses will be selling tickets in their stores ahead of Bud Fowler Night: Caribbean Patty World, Dayseon's Fashion, The Legacy Lounge, The Crystal Spell, Big Zues BBQ, and The Outlet Bar and Lounge.

The following vendors will be in attendance as part of "Bud Fowler Night": The Crystal Spell, Sweetay's, LoveSick Doll Art, Khonsu, and Nevaeh Jewels Collections.
