TRAVERSE CITY - The Traverse City North Stars announced that forward Austin Rugal has been traded to the Alpena IceDiggers of the North American Hockey League's North Division, and that fellow forward Scott Ponstein has been reassigned to Blind River of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Rugal, who played for the Belle Tire midget-AAA club last year and is a Macomb, MI native, scored one goal and recorded eight penalty minutes in seven games of action with the North Stars this year. The IceDiggers sent TC a fifth round pick in the 2006 NAHL entry draft in exchange for Rugal's services.

Ponstein, who prepped for the Grand Traverse Bay Reps - a co-op program comprised of players from Traverse City St. Francis, Kalkaska, Elk Rapids and Suttons Bay - in 2004-05, had an assist in six games for the Stars. He will join former high school teammate Brian Banducci in Blind River (Ont.), where he will play for the Beavers. Current North Stars Jake Erway and Tony Swarthout played in Blind River last season.
