
Ruff Riders LB Rico Brooks Named IFL Defensive Player of the Week

ABILENE, TX: The Indoor Football League announced on Wednesday, April 29, that Abilene Ruff Riders Linebacker Rico Brooks has been selected as Defensive Player of the Week for Week 7 of the IFL. In the Abilene Ruff Riders 59-20 win over the San Angelo Stampede Express back on April 25, Brooks recorded 8.5 total tackles (six solo, five assisted) including three tackles for a loss of 23 yards, one fumble recovery, one sack of 11 yards, and one quarterback hurry.
Brooks is the second consecutive Ruff Riders player to be named Defensive Player of the Week. Defensive Back Joey Longoria received the honors in Week 6 following a two-interception performance in the Ruff Riders 33-27 win over the Corpus Christi Hammerheads back on April 18.
Brooks currently leads the Abilene Ruff Riders with 32.0 total tackles including four tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, one blocked kick, and one safety recovery. Additionally, Rico leads the Indoor Football League with averaging eight tackles a game.
The Abilene Ruff Riders look to continue their winning streak on the road as they face the Wichita Wild on Saturday, May 2. Abilene currently is atop the Lone Star Division with a 3-1 overall record, and a 3-0 record against divisional opponents.
