
RSL defeats New England

SANDY, Utah - Real Salt Lake used two penalty kicks to defeat the New England Revolution, 2-1, on Friday night at Rio Tinto Stadium. After Javier Morales converted RSL's first PK attempt in the 35th minute, New England defender Darrius Barnes equalized two minutes later by heading in Chris Tierney's free kick.
However, Real Salt Lake (7-3-7, 28 pts.) was awarded a second penalty in the second half and Joao Plata stepped up and converted to push RSL ahead, 2-1. New England (7-7-2, 23 pts.) suffered its fourth loss in a row and its third 2-1 loss to RSL in as many seasons.
