Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Mark O'Leary. Last season, O'Leary (5'10/195) (23), who hails from Owen Sound, Ontario, scored five goals, picked up fifteen assists (twenty points), and registered seventy-three penalty minutes in fifty-five games with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League before earning a call-up to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL on March 12, 2008.

In his AHL debut with the Griffins, O'Leary scored a pair of goals and played to a (+3) in a 7-1 victory over the Toronto Marlies. O'Leary, who is entering his third season as a pro, stuck with the Griffins through the remainder of the regular season, picking up four points (3g-1a) and twenty-nine penalty minutes, which included three fighting majors, in 16 AHL games. Prior to turning pro, O'Leary played 182 games of major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Mississauga IceDogs and Guelph Storm. In his first season of major junior, O'Leary and his Mississauga teammates made a storybook run through the OHL playoffs, winning back-to-back seven game series against the Oshawa Generals and Barrie Colts prior to upsetting the highly favored St. Michael's Majors to win the Eastern Conference Championship (and the coveted Bobby Orr Trophy) before finally getting knocked off by the Guelph Storm in the OHL finals.

The Royals open the 2008-09 regular season against the Elmira Jackals on Friday, October 17, 2008 at First Arena in Elmira, New York. The Royals' home opener is set for Saturday, October 25, 2008, when the Johnstown Chiefs visit the Sovereign Center. Royals' full Season Tickets and Total Choice Flex Plans are now on sale.
