TRIO OF LOCAL ROX PLAYERS EARN POSTSEASON HONORS
Brockton Rox outfielder Rhett Wiseman (Mansfield, MA) of Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols in Cambridge, Mass. was named the 2011-2012 Gatorade Massachusetts Baseball Player of the Year. The award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence as well as high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field.
Wiseman becomes a finalist for the Gatorade National Player of the Year award as well. The 17-year old owns a .444 batting average with eight home runs, 24 RBI and 26 runs scored through 21 games this season with BB&N. Wiseman, a First Team Rawlings/Perfect Game All-American and a three-time First Team All-League honoree, has led the Knights to a 16-5 record as of May 31.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound senior is committed to play at Vanderbilt University next season, but is also expected to be selected within the first 100 picks of the 2012 MLB Draft on June 4. The left-handed hitting center fielder could go as high as the first round according to many scouts. ESPNHS has him ranked 42nd among high school seniors, while MLB Draft Guide has him ranked 47th overall.
Wiseman has maintained a B average in the classroom and is the president of his school's senior class. He has also volunteered locally to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Brockton Rox junior outfielder Sean Ryan (Norton, MA) has had quite the season for Wheaton College. After guiding the Lyons to their third-straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship, Ryan led the Lyons to the Div. III College World Series.
Despite a strong postseason performance in which it cruised through the competition with ease, Wheaton College hit a road block in the season finale on Tuesday and fell to No. 1 Marietta College, 7-2, in the National Championship game. The Lyons closed out the season with a 41-11 record.
Ryan, who will be seen patrolling the outfield at Campanelli Stadium all summer long, took home a plethora of accolades to close out his junior season. Among his many achievements, Ryan was named the 2012 NEWMAC Player of the Year, while also earning ABCA Second-Team All-American honors.
Furthermore, he was named the Most Outstanding Player of 2012 NEWMAC Tournament after finishing with a .571 (8-for-14) batting average to go along with one home run, four RBI, three runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases. Ryan capped it off by going 3-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored in the championship contest.
On top of that, Ryan was named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England Division III Baseball First Team, and also earned D3baseball.com All-New England Region Second Team and NEWMAC First Team honors.
For the season, Ryan hit .384 (86-for-224) with 18 doubles, three triples, three homers, 37 RBI, eight walks, 30 stolen bases, and 49 runs scored.

After posting stellar numbers throughout the 2012 season, Brockton Rox catcher Greg Baggett (East Bridgewater, MA) was named Second Team Daktronics Division II Baseball All-East Region.
Baggett, a senior catcher at Bentley University, also earned First Team Northeast-10 honors following an outstanding 2012 campaign with the Falcons. One of the top power hitters in the Northeast-10, the East Bridgewater native ranked fourth in the conference in slugging percentage (.569), while leading Bentley in home runs (8), total bases (91), and extra-base hits (23).
Baggett finished with a .294 batting average at the dish to go along with 47 hits, 10 doubles, five triples, 32 RBI, 18 walks, and 31 runs scored. Baggett, who saw action as both a catcher and a designated hitter, recorded a .366 on-base percentage and a .966 fielding percentage.
