THUNDER BAY-The St Cloud Rox were swept north of the border by Thunder Bay with a 5-2 loss Friday night at Port Arthur Stadium. After the two losses, the Rox are now 10-11 in the second half of the season and two and a half games behind first place WIllmar.

Andy Henkemeyer (Minnesota), Jamie Simpson (Eastern Michigan), Carlos Lopez (Cal State-Fullerton) and Erik Kozel (Colorado Mesa) each had a hit in the game for St. Cloud. Kozel also added a pair of stolen bases and a run scored.

Tadd Johansen (Wayne State) pitched 5.1 innings and allowed five runs on seven hits. The lefty struck out three Border Cats and yielded four walks.

The Rox had two hits in the second inning and a pair in the third but did not manage another for the duration of the game. Border Cats pitchers Dan Ludwig (Belmont) and Matt Cooper (Bellvue) combined to stymie the Rox hitters. In fact, the Rox held a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but Thunder Bay scored three runs in the bottom of the second and never looked back.

The Rox are at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar for a game with the Stingers on Saturday night before returning home Sunday.
