Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Brockton, MA - Brockton's bats were too much for the Worcester Bravehearts, as the Rox beat Worcester 9-1 at Campanelli Stadium Wednesday.
Brockton got the scoring started in the bottom of the third. A Mike Golankiewicz (Merrimack) two-run home run scored Justin Riemer (Wright State) to give Brockton a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish.
The Bravehearts picked up a run in the seventh on an RBI double by Sebastian Salado (Palm Beach Atlantic) that scored Nick Martin (Westfield State), but could do no more across the rest of the game.
Brockton picked up six more runs in the bottom of the eighth. Pedro Martinez (Lynn) capped off the inning with a two-run double.
The win went to Brockton's Kevin Dow, who gave up just one run across seven innings on three hits while walking two and striking out eight. Bryce Afthim (Southern Maine) took the loss for the Bravehearts, pitching six innings and giving up three runs, two earned, on nine hits while striking out five.
The win moves Brockton to 14-6 while Worcester falls to 11-11.
The Bravehearts will return home tomorrow to face the Nashua Silver Knights. First pitch is set for 6:35.
