[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The Scorpions announced today defenseman Dylan Row has been signed. He will arrive in Rio Rancho today and is expected to be in the lineup Friday night when the Scorpions host Austin.

Row comes to the Scorpions after spending the majority of the last two seasons in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) with Fayetteville and Twin Cities. In 70 games, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native scored 44 points (15G, 29A) while amassing 58 penalty minutes.

Prior to embarking on his professional career, Row spent two seasons at Brown University. The 5'11" 195-pounder was known for protecting his team's defensive zone well.

"We expect Dylan to come in and be a very reliable defenseman," said Murphy. "He is very dependable on the defensive end and has some offensive flair as well."

When Row arrives inside the Scorpions locker room he will see a familiar face. In 2001-02, Row played with Mitch Stephens on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the British Columbia Hockey League. To make room on the roster Jason Schultz has been waived.

The Scorpions will continue their home stand with a pair of weekend games against Austin. Friday, three fans will have the chance to win a TV courtesy of Wal-Mart. Those not able to make it to the game can hear it on 610 The Sports Animal or watch it on the CHL Network starting at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the Scorpions will honor those serving in public safety with the annual "Salute to the Badges Night." Come out to see who wins the Badges Cup as the police and fire battle in various intermission contests. Prior to the Scorpions game, there will be a police vs. fire hockey game starting at 4 p.m. Both Scorpions home games this weekend start at 7:15 p.m.
