Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release
Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Aaron Bogosian has committed to St. Lawrence University, the RoughRiders announced today. Bogosian will begin his college career next season.
"Aaron has worked very hard and has been a very good two way player for us," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "We're very happy that he is going to have the chance to continue his career at a strong college program like St. Lawrence."
Bogosian, who turns 20 tomorrow, is in his first season with the RoughRiders. The Massena, New York, native has scored seven goals and totaled 13 points while playing in each of the Riders' first 31 games this year. Bogosian is tied for third in the United States Hockey League with two shorthanded goals.
The Riders selected the 5' 11", 195-pound Bogosian in the fourth round of last May's USHL draft with the forty-seventh overall choice. Bogosian joined the Riders after two seasons of prep school hockey at Cushing Academy in Massachusetts.
Bogosian will join former RoughRider defenseman Zach Miskovic at St. Lawrence next season. The Saints are currently in second place in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference, having gone 7-2-0 in league play and 11-9-1 overall so far this season.
Bogosian joins Richard Bachman (Colorado College), Robin Bergman (Notre Dame), David Boehm (Massachusetts), Rob Bordson (Minnesota-Duluth), Jacob Cepis (Bowling Green), Brett Dickinson (Quinnipiac), Evan Stephens (Dartmouth), Matt Tommassoni (Miami of Ohio), Kevin Wehrs (Minnesota), Scott Wietecha (Ferris State) and Tommy Wingels (Miami of Ohio) as the twelfth member of the 2006-07 RoughRiders to make a college commitment.
Bogosian and the RoughRiders (20-10-1, 41 points) are tied for first place in the USHL's East Division. The Riders return to action with a pair of home games this weekend. The Riders host the Tri-City Storm Friday night and the Green Bay Gamblers Saturday evening. Both games face off at 7:05PM.
