Roughnecks Sign Standout WR Torrey Day

ODESSA, TX. : The Roughnecks announced today the signing of WR Torrey Day at official team chiropractor Gonzales Chiropractic in downtown Odessa. Day had a stellar season for the Roughnecks last year even though he came in midway through. He was signed with the AFL's Orlando Predators in January and had a great showing, but was released just before the season. The Roughnecks are very excited to have him back in the fold here in Odessa. He contributed the offense needed to get the Roughnecks into the Championship game in 2006. Once there, Day scored 4 touchdowns in helping to solidify the win as the Roughnecks downed the Corpus Christi Hammerheads 97-56.
"Getting Torrey back is huge for the Roughnecks in 2007. He was tremendous down the stretch (9 touchdowns over the last three games) last season. The fact that he was signed to an Arena League contract (Orlando Predators) over the off-season shows how much of a talent he is. I think his time spent in training camp with the Predators will only make him better this season. Hopefully he will get the opportunity again next season to play at the next level. After a full season in Odessa in 2007 he will be an even better prospect for teams at the next level in 2008. He gives us an experienced indoor player that will lead by example and help the younger players understand how to be true professionals." stated an excited Head coach Chris Williams.
He will also be contributing in a coaching capacity as he will be assisting the coaching staff as a WR coach. Torrey will be learning from the best in the business as he prepares himself for life after playing football.
