Roughnecks prepare to tackle the off-season

Odessa, Texas. Ten days prior to the end of the 2004 season fiscal year, the Roughnecks are miles ahead of where the franchise stood just one year earlier. A proven head coach is in place and already recruiting remarkable talent. Season ticket renewals have been very steady and the growth of corporate partnerships have been even better. With the future so bright, the Roughnecks have expanded their management staff once again, bringing on a veteran with a wealth of experience. Continental Basketball Association executive Larry Kiernan has joined the Roughnecks as the Vice President of Sales.
"I am excited about joining Tommy and the entire Roughneck staff". says Kiernan.
Just a step below the NBA, the CBA boasts the rights to having promoted over 80% of the NBA's officials and nearly 40% of the leagues players. As the top executive of two franchises, Kiernan handled every aspect of the sports business from sales to finances to managing players. With budgets nearly 7 times that of the average IFL franchise, Kiernan looks to use his solid experience in Odessa.

Prior to joining the Roughnecks, Kiernan served as the G. M. for the Great Lakes Storm of the previously mentioned Continental Basketball Association during its inaugural season playing a key role in getting the new franchise off the ground. He was picked for this position after 2 successful seasons as Vice President of the Idaho Stampede of the same league. Before entering the world of Sport franchise management, Kiernan was Vice President of a nationally known furniture manufacturer and Operations / Marketing Director of a Northwest based chain of furniture retail stores. Throughout his management career Kiernan has received numerous awards for his achievements in sales, advertising and employee training.
"A sports management executive of Larry's caliber does not come along very often and we are very pleased to have him join us. As we seek to take our team to the next level, Larry is a perfect fit", stated team President Tommy Benizio.
Related to football, five Roughnecks players have been invited to try-out camps through the promotional efforts of head coach Chris Williams. The team expects to have announcements in early November related to Odessa players playing in the nationally televised AFL next spring.
"It should always be your goal as a coach at this level to move players up and on. It is great for the up and coming players but also aids the team in recruiting if you can boast that you we able to help a few young men reach their goals." explained Williams.
