
Roughnecks Pink Footballs Raise Big Money

ODESSA, TX. : The Odessa Roughnecks and Midland Memorial Hospital recently came together for the game on Saturday, April 19, 2008 versus the Frisco Thunder, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Both teams played with pink footballs with Roughnecks and Midland Memorial Hospital logos on the side of the ball. In order to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness, the footballs were auctioned during and after the game to fans in attendance.
The Roughnecks are very excited to announce that $2,990 was raised in bids from fans who auctioned on the pink footballs which were signed by Roughnecks players and coaches. Specifically signed footballs from players such as DB Tony Lukins, OL Peter Fields, and WR Torrey Day went for $500.
"We were so pleased to have nearly $3,000 dollars raised to help Midland Memorial Hospital for all their work in supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. We would like to thank all the Roughnecks fans that placed bids. The crowd and the game was amazing, so again, thank you to all for your support." says Owner and Team President Tommy Benizio.
The Roughnecks return to Benny Boyd Field on Saturday, May 10, 2008 to face Corpus Christi. The first 1,000 fans will receive Roughnecks Ball Caps, compliments of Texas Burger.
