
Roughnecks announce dance team auditions

ODESSA, TX. : Entertainment has become the staple of the Odessa Roughnecks, in one form or fashion, this year is not an exception. The much anticipated wait is over, as the team announced Dance Team auditions today at Fast Eddies Billiards in Odessa! Entering into their fourth season the Roughnecks look to put the best of the best on and off the field. Proudly once again Welton Blaylock, choreographer/owner, along with Shout Cheerleading will be at the reigns. Shout Cheerleading has been the Roughnecks official dance studio for the last three seasons. The date for the try-out is slated for Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Midland Park Mall located at 4511 N. Midkiff Rd in Midland. The time of the Tryout is 1:00 p.m. There will be practices at Shout Cheerleading Gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays to start learning the routine starting immediately from 8:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. Those who are interested in participating should contact Welton Blaylock at Shout Cheerleading Gym, located at 2923 E. Hwy. 80 in Odessa. "We have been very pleased at the product that Blaylock has displayed and can't wait to see what he has in store for us this year. We've also been pleased at the turnouts from the years prior, and hope for continued success at the 2007 audition." stated Owner Tommy Benizio. The young ladies who make it will be showcased at all Roughnecks home games, as well as though out the community as ambassadors to the team.
SHOUT Cheerleading: The studio choreographed the dances for every home game and appearance as well as assisting the dancers in uniforms, hip hop dance classes, tumbling and balance. Blaylock is a 21 year vet in the instructional dance and cheer business. Before he began teaching, he earned an All-American status for cheer and dance while representing Texas Tech in Lubbock. Blaylock and his studio also serve in a cheerleading consulting capacity with UTPB along with both Odessa and Permian High Schools. He also teaches aspiring kids in tumbling, dance, and cheer.
AMERICAN SAFETY SERVICES: On board for this season is ASI (American Safety Services Inc.), who have committed to be the title sponsor of the Roughnecks dance team. We are very proud to have them as a major partner and together we will be producing the very best that the dance team world has to offer.
