Roughnecks add four more to 2005 Roster

Odessa, Texas. The Odessa Roughnecks of the National Indoor Football League are please to announce the signing of four players today:

Kicker Whitney Hillin is the only returner form last seasons Roughnecks squad in today’s announcement. The 5’ 11” athlete is a Midland High School and Midland College Graduate where he played soccer. He is no stranger to the Roughnecks new league with three seasons of experience in the NIFL along with a top kicker award in 2003. Hillin also possesses experience in the Arena Football 2 and with two area semi-pro teams. Fans have titled Whitney as “The Disco Kicker”, after watching his dance moves following successful field goal attempts.

Running Back Patrick Strambler from West Texas A & M University is a 6’ 0” and 218 pounder. The former Permian Panther graduated in 2000 and is eager to begin his professional career. Strambler is the All-Time leading rusher at WTAMU.

Towering our first two listed signees, 6’ 5” Kenan Blackmon weighing in at 270 lbs. has committed to the Offensive and Defensive Lines for Odessa. Blackmon was a 1st All-Conference USA player in 2002 with Tulane University and hit the highlight to date in his career spending time playing with the New York Jets of the NFL.

Aries Monroe, at an impressive 6’ 4” and 265 lbs. will also contribute to the O and D lines for the Roughnecks and like Blackmon, he has experience in the National Football League. Monroe played with the Caroline Panthers in 2000 and has since been playing with Montreal in the Canadian Football League. Prior to his professional career, Aries earned 2nd Team All-SEC honors during his college days with the University of Alabama.

Today only, from 3 - 4:00 PM, both Head Coach Chris Williams and “The Disco Kicker”, Whitney Hillin will be available together at the Roughnecks office in the Bank of America building in downtown Odessa.
