Long Island Rough Riders News Release

(Plainview, N.Y., May 13, 2004) – The Long Island Rough Riders will face the Westchester Flames for the second time this season, playing at the City Park Stadium in New Rochelle, N.Y on Saturday. Kick-off is set for 5:30 p.m. The teams played to a 1-1 tie in the Rough Riders' home opener in Uniondale on April 24.

Saturday's game will be the fourth of the season for the Rough Riders, and their second straight on the road. Starring for the Rough Riders this week, Evan Bruno, who ranks fourth in total points (5) in the Pro Select League with two goals and one assist after three games. The Staten Island native was named to the PSL's "Team Of The Week" on Tuesday. Coach Paul Caffrey praised the midfielder, "Evan has been a consistent contributor and is somebody who is learning a new position, and will get better the more he plays that position." Derrick Etienne has also found his way back in the mix as he scored the second goal last Saturday against the Phantoms.

Caffrey also said to look for changes in the backfield, following an injury to Sy last week and a banged up Rich Bradley (concussion) and Steve Cadet (contusion).

A potential addition to the midfield is Michael Giacobbone, an Italian-American, who played the last 13 years in Italy for S.C. Casertana (then Serie C) and A.C. Sangiustese (Serie D).

The Westchester Flames (0W-1L-1T) rank 3rd in the Northern Division, after earning tie against the New Hampshire Phantoms (3:3) and a 1:0 loss last Saturday against the Western Mass Pioneers. The Rough Riders are 3rd in the Atlantic Division.

The Long Island Rough Riders will return home on May 22, 2004 to play the New Jersey Stallions. All Rough Riders home games will be played at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale.
