If the Rough Riders faithful ever needed proof that there club is one of the most widely respected and prestigious teams in the history of American soccer, the search is over.
In a signing that will send shock waves through the USL, Jim Kilmeade has landed the signature of the rising MLS Star Gary Sullivan. The Colorado Rapids player made 13 starts last year and broke into the starting line up in his rookie season!
When asked about his latest transfer coup Kilmeade had the following to say; âWith our youth set up having the success it has had on a national level we felt it was important to bring in a living local soccer legend, to inspire, excite and provide a role model to Long Islands soccer future.'
Sullivan a 200 lb 6-1ft native of West Islip, was clearly reveling at the prospect of playing for the soccer super power on Long Island., âIts exciting to be back on the Island. Hopefully all my friends and family can make it to the games this season. I have great admiration for Ronan Wiseman and I am looking forward to moving forward in a set up I'm comfortable with,'
Coach Ronan The Wiseman commented, 'Gary is going to be a big player in the USL. He was an outstanding player during his 4 years at Adelphi and made a positive impression in the MLS. Any coach across the country would be pleased to have a talent like Gary Sullivan on the roster.'
Rough Riders fans the first home game is on the 30th of April @Mitchel Field against the New Hampshire Phantoms we can't wait to see Gary in action!!!
