Oakland Roots SC News Release
Oakland Roots were on the front foot early. The pressure from the start was rewarded inside of three minutes when Óttar Magnús Karlsson found the back of the net to give Oakland the 1-0 lead. Las Vegas Lights were able to quickly find their feet and settle following the start and found the equalizer in the 24th minute through Alex Lara on a set piece. The half would end 1-1 with Las Vegas on the attack late in the half.
Roots once again came out of the locker controlling the match inside the Las Vegas half for the first 30 minutes. The best chance in that spell came from a shot off the post from Charlie Dennis. Coach Juan Guerra made some attacking substitutions as Roots continued to push for the winner. Despite the second half possession the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Oakland now returns home to host LA Galaxy II next Saturday, May 21st at Laney College.
