New Orleans VooDoo News Release
NEW ORLEANS - The Arena Football league announced on Tuesday afternoon that VooDoo linebacker-turned-fullback Roosevelt Falls' second quarter touchdown run earned "AFL Highlight of the Week" honors, the weekly award given to the most exciting play from the previous weekend's games.
Facing second and ten at the Predators 18-yard line with under a minute to play in the first half, quarterback Adam Kennedy mishandled an early snap from center R.J. Bibbs before the ball took a perfect bounce right into the hands of Falls. With nothing but open space infront of him Falls ran 18 yards untouched up the middle for his eighth rushing touchdown of the season.
"We're building, we're getting stronger and beginning to understand each other .... that's why that play happened, we had no doubt in our minds we were going to score in those last ten seconds, and when you eliminate doubt, anything can happen." said Falls after the game. "Even though we didn't win the game, we are learning a lot. it's going to take some time but we are getting it done. We're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Rome wasn't built in a day afterall."
Falls becomes the second New Orleans player to earn "AFL Highlight of the Week" honors in 2015 after former kicker Garrett Lindholm's earned the award for his 41-yard game winning kick as time expired against the Spokane Shock on May 2 as well as the first fullback in the league to earn the honor this season. His touchdown was also selected as the No. 9 play the June 27th edition of ESPN's SportsCenter's Top 10 plays, an award selected by fans across the nation via the Twitter hashtag #SCTop10.
