Medford Rogues News Release

VICTORIA, B.C. - The Medford Rogues moved above the .500 mark for the first time in team history with a 4-1 win over the Victoria HarbourCats at Royal Athletic Park tonight. A strong outing by Rogues RHP Mike Bradshaw (Nevada-Reno and N. Medford High) lead the Rogues, who move to 4-3 on the year. Medford is now a half-game out of first place in the WCL South.

The Rogues struck first in the top of the second as a two-out Victoria error put SS Brody Weiss on board, followed by a two-run home run by C Ryan Teel, his first of the year.

In the fifth, OF Shakeel Newton singled for his first hit of the year then stole his first base of the year in moving to second. A sacrifice fly by 3B Ray McIntire moved Newton to third and a double by 2B A.J. Balta scored Newton to make it 3-0 through five innings. SS Brody Weiss scored on a fielder's choice in the sixth to score the fourth and final Medford run.

A lone Victoria run marred Bradshaw's second start of the season. The Rogues scattered six hits, led by two hits each by 2B A.J. Balta (U. of Oregon) and 3B Ray McIntire (Nevada-Reno) and Teel's home run. Five Rogues had hits on the night.

Bradshaw went seven stellar innings to get his first win of the year, allowing four hits, one run and striking out five. Shutout innings by LHP Chase Tokunaga (Maryland) and RHP Bo Cornish (Portland) closed the books on Victoria. Connor Russell (Vancouver Island U.) started for the HarbourCats and took the loss to move to 0-1 on the year.

The two meet again Wednesday night at 7:05 from Victoria.
