Rogues Announce Staff Changes, Player Signings

September 16, 2014 - West Coast League (WCL)
Medford Rogues News Release

MEDFORD, OR - The Medford Rogues today announced two staff changes and the signing of one returning and five new players to the 2015 roster. Assistant General Manager Griffin Boyd has left the Rogues, effective September 15. He joined the Rogues in the fall of 2014. At this time his position will not be filled. In addition, the Rogues have hired Emma Tiedemann as the team's main play-by-play voice for the 2015 season. Tiedemann will join veteran Bill Jacobs as the Rogues Broadcast Team, presented by Valley Immediate Care.

Returning for his second year in Medford is RHP Jackson Bertsch (Lane JC). New to the Rogues are; RHP Houston Samuel (Western Oregon U.); LHP Liam Stroud (Niagara U.); LHP Aaron Schwark (Kalamazoo College); and RHP Kevin Flores and C/1B Drew Butler, both of Trinity (TX) University.

"We will miss Griff here at the Rogues and we thank him for the year he was with us," Rogues General Manager Chuck Heeman said. "Griff was a huge help in getting us to the next level in terms of ticket sales and sponsorships, and we couldn't have gotten through this season without him. He's on to bigger and better things. We part friends and wish him well."

Tiedemann, a senior at the University of Missouri, has been broadcasting since age 15. Her grandfather is legendary North Texas broadcaster Bill Mercer. After enrolling at Missouri she immediately became involved with the campus radio station, KCOU-FM. With KCOU, she has broadcast most Missouri sports including the Texas A&M vs. Missouri football game and the 2014 Cotton Bowl when Missouri defeated Oklahoma State. In 2014 Emma was part of the broadcast team for the Alaska Summer League's Mat-Su Miners, where she shared play-by-play duties for 42 games.

"Emma is accomplished beyond her years as a broadcaster and we're lucky to have her with us," Heeman said. "She's got more broadcast and back-end technical experience than anyone else we could have found for this position, plus she's well-versed in the grind that summer collegiate baseball brings. Emma knows the game, she's a fresh voice and we're happy to have her aboard."
